I have Windows Vista Ultimate.  Last night I was creating a DVD for viewing later on my TV.  When the process was finished it brought up Windows Media Center, displaying the DVD, etc.  I closed that, but noticed that it looks as though Netflicks is available through Windows Media Center.  Since I don't have Netflicks right now, I don't know how that works.  How does it work?

If you have a Netflix subscription that includes the online viewing, you can now view the movies inside of WMC.

Must be similar to streaming through the XBox 360, the Netflix subscription, has it been within WMC since it appeared for Xbox360 or earlier or later?

???

Netflicks recently did some updates, the web site uses silverlight to watch on-the-fly movies.

the WMC  stuff i think was also updated to use silverlight.

The Xbox360 displays on my HDTV, so I'm not inticed to try WMC in order to watch my Netflix stuff on my smaller computer display - now maybe if I'm traveling with my laptop and have broadband I would use WMC <- Netflix.

There are 3 flavors of Netflix, or are there 4 ?

  1. I get DVDs in my mail box from a guy who wears a uniform,
  2. I stream movies on my Xbox360 after using my PC to manage my Netflix account and select from available online movies,
  3. I can stream movies directly to my TV (never tried this one, probably won't)
  4. ??  I can stream movies directly to my PC via WMC ?? (never tried this one, might when I travel).

Movies streaming on the Xbox look great.

Yep - I use the WMC Netflixs plugin all the time to watch stuff and it works really well. Fully works with the WMC remote control (my media center is connected to my TV) and it's just like watching TV.

In fact, I've recently finally got rid of Cable TV because I wasn't watching enough of it.

All we need now is an official HULU plugin for WMC from Microsoft..... please....? I know there's third party ones, but they have their downsides.

The pioneers would be appalled!

I currently use a Roku player to stream Netflix directly to my TV.  The player is inexpensive but works great.  The player is software upgradable so they are expanding what the box can do.  They recently updated it to include Amazon On-Demand service as well.  I hear they are going to add more channels soon.

I don't have a Xbox 360, or any other game console.  I also don't have a HDTV, and aren't likely to get one anytime soon, unless someone else is willing to buy me one (just not in my budget).  The idea of being able to watch movies and TV episodes via WMC really intrigues me, but I would also like to watch it via WMC on my 10 year old TV.  I hope that's possible, somehow.

I just got a Netflix subscription, the 1 DVD at-a-time subscription and unlimited streaming.

We have an Xbox 360 in our living room and we just got a Roku in our bedroom for streaming Netflix videos. The Roku works great, super easy to setup, wireless and smart enough to detect your connection speed. If you want NetFlix on a regular TV, definitely check out the Roku.

Has something happened to this option?  I can't find it now.

I did see the "Netflicks" icon in the Media Center menu as recently as 2 weeks ago.  I did not set it up though.  (punishment for being lazy?)

...and streaming Netflix to the Xbox 360 / HDTV also works well. LOVE it.
