It finds lightbulbs.

It's pretty great, I've been looking forward to both Ghostbusters and the Monkey Island remake, and now I got to see 30 seconds of the intro of the former and it won't be back in time for when the latter comes out. Beautiful timing.

Just get an extension cable and hook your PC to your TV?

I've got one that's RROD-ing too. It is the second time for that box to RROD. I'm not sure where my reciept is these days. How to send it in without one?

What is your plan for repair, Bas?

You don't need a receipt, you just go to xbox.com and stick the machines serial number in.

WOOH! WOOH!

When I get my Xbox back (RROD) it was a different unit. And I swore that the video is somehow fuzzier... It sucks

Mine just RROD'd as well Sad

At least it is not Holiday season. Now, that's called perfect timing.

My first one, a Pro, RRoD'd too. I got a second one, this time an Elite, but I've had some strange freezes recently while re-playing HL2/The Orange Box, I'm not sure if the game is buggy or the console is about to die soon Sad

I think of buying an Xbox 360 as entering into a 3-year lease/rental agreement whereby at the end of 3 years you keep it, but that it ultimately isn't yours until then... so don't get too attached.

If I ever got an Xbox 360 I'd open it up straight away and watercool it, and they're so cheap thesedays (£160 from Amazon) I see it more as a disposable toy than a precious arrangement of electronics.

If you're dealing with the tech support people, your best chances are trying to sound like as if you know how the system works, and describe the failure with a possible solution. Thay'll just forward it to the non-support tech people, because they don't know what to do. If it's a hardware device failing, just RMA it, it can't be fixed with 'software' (firmware update, database repair, etc.).

My most recent issue was (and actually still is) the Live ID association with the XBox/Zune tag. I seem to have two of those and one of them, which I'm not using is associated to both of the Live IDs. So I just sent them those HEX identity values (no email addresses).

For your cable problem, there's only cable failure, plug failure or device failure (TV and/or XBox). Just make sure it's not your TV or cable and then just RMA the failing XBox, the support people can't help you there...

Actually, you can just send it in. Register your console and then fill out the RMA form.

do you have an exotic name or something? Smiley I love the NATO phonetic alphabet, funny that many of the supports guys I've encountered are aware of it

Just phone up and ask to be promoted to Level 2, if they ask for a case reference number just make up a number.
