I want my scalps!

Just found this on the Google Code Blog: “Apollo 11 mission's 40th Anniversary: One large step for open source code…”

To commemorate this event, the Command Module code (Comanche054) and Lunar Module code (Luminary099) have been transcribed from scanned images to run on yaAGC (an open source AGC emulator) by the Virtual AGC and AGS project.

Great, all I need is a space ship and Saturn V rocket. Anyone care to donate? Smiley

My name has 9 letters. Coincidence? I think not...

Yes, they got program alarm 1201 and 1202. Which, as far as I understand it, meant the computer was overloaded.

They left the rendezvous radar on during the descent, which meant that the computer was getting data from two radars (the landing radar and the rendezvous radar) at once.  The computer couldn't handle that much data coming in at the same time.

I think it would be cool to build a mockup of the DSKY, put in some small embedded processor running this software, and use it as a wall clock or something like that.  Probably wouldn't take much in terms of processor power.

That's just the long way of saying "the computer was overloaded." Tongue Out

Proving QQ for 5 years!

Does reading that code make anyone else feel like they're a bad programmer?

Look who wrote this code (MIT). If it looks easy to you I nominate you for a Turing award.

It reminds me of why I never really liked assembler. Smiley Kudos to the people who can design a multitasking operating system without a single IF statement.

I just love the comments to the Lunar landing Guidance Equations  line 179 that read:

TS WCHPHASE
TC BANKCALL # TEMPORARY, I HOPE HOPE HOPE
CADR STOPRATE # TEMPORARY, I HOPE HOPE HOPE
TC DOWNFLAG # PERMIT X-AXIS OVERRIDE
ADRES XOVINFLG

Well I guess Hope ^3 worked.
