WOOH! WOOH!

I'm trying to uninstall J# (sorry brian, needing the diskspace)... edit: and C++

and it's been 15 minutes already sitting through the VS "Installing Components" dialog while it's "Generating setup script"...

On the other hand, that is a very attractive woman. I wonder how MS know my taste...

while( ( !succeed=try() ) ) { }

Always funny when they call themselfs "Setup" even though is's an uninstall !

This has nothing to do with the windows installation model and everything to do with visual studio.

In this case, I suspect that you installed VS from a network resource (or CD) that is no longer present, so there's a lot of stuff that's timing out.

"Oh for the love of god" - Was that because it switched to a picture of a guy instead of the woman?

My name has 9 letters. Coincidence? I think not...

VS2005 SP1 takes a couple of hours to install. The main issue is with the way Windows Installer verifies patches. I'm not sure how, but they improved it for VS2008, anyway.

I'm your creativity creator™ :)

A few short questions:

How large is your hard drive?

How much space is free on it?

When was the last time you ran a defrag?

How much RAM do you have?

I'm pretty sure you (or your cost saving employer) did something wrong with those things.

Heh, I often stare, dumfounded, at (un)installers thinking about how many calculations could be run, and how much data could be read & written, on modern hardware in the amount of time the things take to run, wondering WTF they are doing and HTF they manage to make it take so long.

(Not talking about any product in particular. There are so many that this applies to.)
