Before C# there was darkness...

MS.  Are you kidding me?  Your using flash instead of silverlight for this?  I am a sl fan.  But if you don't start using your own product, I start to wonder.

My name has 9 letters. Coincidence? I think not...

Simple fact of the matter is that this kind of thing is often done by third-party contractors, and they will use whatever they're the most comfortable with, which at the moment is still more often Flash than Silverlight.

And then there's the market penetration it's aimed at.

Do you want to sell more items, or do you want to take a stand? Hmm, sell more items.

It's not stupid; It's advanced!

Some of the tougher customers to convert to Zune would disregard the site if it was done in Silverlight, because for whatever reason they refuse to install it.

Welcome Change

You're all correct!

There's business and then there's, well, business. However, in my humbe opinion, we should detect SL presence on requesting clients and then send SL down, else, send Flash. But, arguably, that's kind of inefficient (from an implementation perspective)...

Oh the Zune team excels in dodging that tax, joe.  (Cue mini-rant)

When released, the Zune software was not compatible with Vista and took about a month to become so.

It took a year to enable support for recorded tv from media center.

Still will not sync through Media Center interface.

When plugged into the xbox, does not provide any additional benefit beyond other media players, unless you count the icon.

Purchases from xbox marketplace will not sync and does not count as a purchase in Zune Marketplace, and will take the Zune Video Marketplace to bring that up to par, three years after launch.

I am still trying to convince myself that this is a Microsoft product, because the integration just isn't there.

That being said, I am excited to see what the HD brings with Zune 4.0 software and hopefully better integration into the ecosystem.
