Hi guys... I just switched from Windows 7 RC to RTM (MSDN AA for the win). RTM win 7 was unable to unpack the Windows Easy Transfer file I created on Windows 7 RC. I dont know why, but there could be a possibility that this is by design, so I wanted to warn you guys to take file-based backup.

 

(I did have a file-based backup, so none of my data is compromised, thankfully)

I'm not sure why you tried Windows Easy Transfer but an "in-place" upgrade from RC > RTM works perfectly.

Well, it worked for me. Maybe your Easy Transfer file was just broken.

Easy Transfer worked fine for me from RC to RTM.  I used a shared network path to back my stuff up.

I wanted a clean install, but I wanted my files as well.

 

I just tried again, and it magically works now Expressionless  Maybe it was one of the programs I installed between my last try and now.
