Mitsibishi Outlander  ( V6 / 4WD)  *1 yr old - 2008   - 36k kilometres - mint

* i have had 3 dodge caravans in a row for over 25 years  - and i ...i....HATE..them now. Especially the new FRIDGE version on wheels (like the element and the soul and some other weird car i saw. - do people not stop to think about aero dynamics on these BOXY designs?

anyway - no more caravans - with the bench seats you have to take out.

Only in America would a 17-20 MpG huge car be the Editor's Choice. I hope you have three kids and a wife Jamie.

I mean it is a nice looking car. Just very large...

Electric cars are for suckers right now anyway. It is all about the hybrids and design-for efficient gas engines.

Did you decide on what to get? (I'm confused by this point).

The Mitsu's are nice, but a word to the wise (coming from a current mitsu owner)...

You MUST keep up with EVERY recommended service (20k,30k,50k,60k, etc) or they VOID your warranty.

Also, you have to actually read thr owners manual to find out what and when some of these service intervals are, some of them are pretty costly as well.

Don't get me wrong, I love my mitsu (it's sporty, fast, comfortable and gets good fuel mileage), but the level of service and support is terrible.

36k km in one year seems a bit much to me. But then again, I only drive about 10k miles a year.

My wife & I have  a Pacifica that has served us very well, AWD, 2nd & 3rd row seats fold down, lots of storage, great for traveling.  We have found it to be very comfortable, you might look at one of those as well.  We drove from Tx to Mt. Rushmore and it was great.  Handles well in the mountains.

Glad to help.

The reason I really mention it is because I just took my car to be serviced and the dealer made me go and hunt down all of my service records from every oil change, tune-up and the 30k and 50k services. After I drove around town to the various places I had my car serviced collecting the records they wanted, they told me that I didn't have my timing belt replaced at 60k miles. SO I had to have that done to keep my warranty BEFORE I could have my car serviced under any warranty program.

The timing belt replacement was $600 and it was fine; but it was over 60k miles, so those are the rules.

Have you considered the Honda CR-V   My wife has the 2008 2WD EX-L and she loves it.

Ha! Mitsou How very Canadian of you.

My 2010 Corolla S has finally gotten to an average fuel efficiency of 6.0 Litres/100km. People always complain that they're not getting the same numbers as the manufacturer states but that's just because they only check a few times when it's new then they forget about it. As you keep driving and take a few long trips the average gets better. It's like a file download dialog box that just keeps getting more accurate as more of the file gets downloaded and more time goes by.

Is yours going to have the giant Rockford Fosgate sub in the back?
