I recently interviewed some candidates for a project I had been working on for quite some time.

I received calls from former employees of Sun, HP, even Microsoft, pleading for a full time job. I explained that this project is funded by a small VC and that there are no benefits or even fair compensation. That did not disuade them.

When I got to the technical questions such as, what is the difference between abstract methods and an interface? Such as how is it different that you can extend an abstract class or a class with abstract methodds, and have it force you to implement those methods, and implementing and interface class, and that class also forces you to implement methods?

These are very simple questions, but they weed out the good from the bad pretty quickly. You should have heard the desperation on the other end with some of the explainations I got.

At any rate, it's clear that some of the employees of our tech giants will be finding employment in the fast food industry soon. What a dramatic turn. I used to work in fast food when I was in community college so many years ago. Now our fine students with bachelors  degrees in CS and a few years of experience at global tech firms are taking over the flipping of dead cows!

Keep those H1Bs coming Bill.

I CAN has cheezburger and you CAN'T has stop me!

a. Can I just ask what level of qualification you have in economics to make these statements, which sound suspicously like speculation to me, as solid facts.

b. Do you not have data protection laws in the US?

Not from H1B holders as most of them have gone home or are locked into sub-salary positions,...

First the H1B holders stole all the jobs in the US, then Bill keeps them coming, now they have gone home... you are confusing me! Perplexed

do you see a pattern there?  Smiley

I see many times when folks seem to just toss stuff around as if to sound like they know something.

reminds me of an old saying about if you can't ****** then baffle them with **** *********  or other smelly bovine deposits.

The ones that are trapped in the jobs that applied for the visa to get them here are still underpaid and taking up seats that should be filled by some of these people I interviewed.

Hang on, you just said that the people you interviewed were getting your basic programming questions wrong and should all be burger flippers instead. Do you even know what point you are trying to make?
