I've recently purchased a new PC through NewEgg.  It came with Vista on it.  I have heard that Microsoft has made it possible to upgrade to Windows 7 for free, if you've made a recent purchase of a machine with Vista on it.  How do I go about doing that?

You'll need to contract New Egg, the deal will be offered through whoever sold you the machine (or the manufacturer of the machine, depending), and they may not choose to make it available

???

PS:  this is almost a given, it was done with almost every version of windows i recall.

and generally if you buy a developer tool within 90 days of a new version they have in the past made the upgrade free of a shipping cost of 10 or 20 bucks.

for example is VS 2010 is RTM'ed in Feb 2010 then buying VS 08 in dec or jan should get an upgrade for shipping cost. if they do what they have done before.
