A little note: XP Mode needs Hardware Virtualization to be enabled in the BIOS. If it isn't, XP Mode won't start and will display a message instructing you step-by-step on how to enable it and then to cold boot the PC.

Well, do it... it took me several warm boots, and several failed attempts at diagnosing what was wrong to make up my mind and read the whole thing. Serves me right for complaining that users never read my message boxes, I guess.

It's the bit you install into an XP VM to allow you to create shortcuts for applications on your main desktop. It's already in the XP Mode download, but I guess if you already have an XP VM you use on a regular basis then you could install that into it instead.

I've not heard how it works with XP Mode but with iTunes running in VMware, jon_potter said he was unable to update his iPhone's firmware.

I think general synching worked okay, just not the firmware updater.

...I wish Opera made a music manager instead of a web browser. Then they could complain to the EU about something that we actually don't have enough choice/control over! Smiley

I've been Java free for the last 3 years. I only used it for Azureus until I discovered µTorrent.

I only put it back because the BBC showed Micro Men last night, about Sinclair and Acorn. And there's a ZX Spectrum site which runs the emulator in java Smiley
