That's not all bing can mean. It depends on whether you pronounce the G at the end, the way you harden the B in the beginning and how long the I is spelled to narrow down what it could mean... and then there's also the causal usage factor involved. If you use "bing" in a sentence about swine flu, sure then it means desease. Bing as a word on it's own is mostly associated with the character for ice (frozen water), though. Then again, you better ask the Chinese professor or linguist of your choice, cause I might be wrong.

Actually the intonation is wrong, it is more like Ice. Bing--, not Bing\. After hearding the real sound of bing--, you know it is not Bing\.

 

Ice = Bing --. The intonation would be similar to single characer A, B, C, Y.

Disease = Being\. The intonation would be similar to "hey", "hate"
