The colours and swishy theme they picked for vs2010 remind me of entourage on the mac.. the new logo is neat but I'm not so hot about the splash screen.. that said I think your wallpapers are nice (a lot better than the splash screen Tongue Out ).

I only wish that Microsoft would post wallpapers for VS2010 on their website or even on www.asp.net website.

Any chance that you could create the same ones for 1920 x 1080? How did you create these, i would love to learn how to make the waves that you did, i'm familiar with photoshop and would love to know if you found a tutorial on creating these..

Thanks for the compliments. Here are the 1920x1080 versions:

There is no one single tutorial where I learnt this. Basically you use the pen tool to draw the shape, then you fill it with a gradient. Duplicate the layer, fill it with a different gradient, add a layer mask, and add a gradient from white to black to that layer mask. I hope that gives you some keywords to search for a tutorial, if not an idea how to do it right away.

Ok, but how did you get the pen tool to look like the shape as it appears when you first open VS 2010? I mean you did a VERY NICE on creating that to the point that it looks like the same as when you open VS 2010. Any chance that you could create a brush pattern for use in Photoshop?

You could take a screenshot and then use the color picker. Creating the same or similar shape is quite easy with free wave forms...

Yes, that's pretty much it.

@aspnet - the pen tool takes some getting used to, but it makes great vector graphics.

ok, thanks, i did try using the pen tool last night and man it will take some time getting use to. It was very frustrating trying to get smooth waves like you did Sad

Dark Backgrounds would look really nice, stick with the blue and purples if you do have time. Thanks again for these nice backgrounds.
