Go Microsoft !!!!!!!

I notice this post

Snow Leopard is incompatible with i7 core i5core?

While I am certain there will be problems with the new Mac kit (there always is),  this doesn't really prove much. You seem to have logged onto MacRumors (and it is called that for a reason - and if you hate Macs so much, what the hell are you doing there anyway?) and picked on two people asking for help.

Hardly what I would call 'very problem'.

Give it a rest; you're as bad as the Mac fanatics.

Nobody on this forum is interested in problems with Apple computers.

Unlikely, given its a time specific thing it could be related to overheating and processor throttling.

Okay, now it's a problem.

Amazing – the first few posts try to blame the problem on Flash.

In a few weeks Apple will silently put out a fix which will step up the fans and throttle the processor, effectively robbing you of the machine you paid for.

funny in a way... kind of reminds me of the x-box 360 heat problem that led to the red ring of death.

same in that it's a new design, generates a lot of heat, it's a small box, it was not tested hard enough before it went out.

same issues in both cases.

The reaction is different, though. People rightly call MS on the RRoD issue, and it cost $1 billion directly and more indirectly through bad PR and lost sales, but people will dismiss the Apple issue as a one-off (another in a long series of supposed one-offs Smiley) and still talk about Apple's superior build quality, and how OS X "just works", when they have hardware and software problems just like everyone else.

(The Apple build quality thing came up here recently but I'm not referring to that in particular. It happens all the time.)

The 360 problems took awhile to appear, these issues appear to be appearing after a days use, and seem to be related to a build quality issue.. the 360 was done to longterm overheating and 'all' units are potentially breakable, it completely depends on the environment it runs in, how much and for how long you use it.. and "luck".

But the key thing here is this will drop under the radar, and apple will be able to still release ads saying "macs always work, osx is super amazing and GOD DAMN AINT IT TRU DAT THEM WINDOZE COMPUTERS BE CRASHING YO!?..

So we have a 'legal' system that allows people to make completely stupid patents, but aparently no legal system that stops companies being outrageously slanderous and full of lies.

Wasn't the art of advertising that you dance along that suposed line that defends consumers, picking your positives and ignoring your flaws.... well apple "crossed that line riding a motorcycle, jumping 20 school busses on fire and never looked back." (potentially nsfw).

I guess their sucking off a lot of people behind closed doors, or perhaps the world really is stupid.

and we have a record of how long it took for RROD to be seen?  I seem to recall it beeing found in a matter of weeks from the 360 launch.

I know folks who bought them right after launch and had problems in less than 3 months and by that time we knew what it was and it was already known that you would get the unit fixed etc....

as for the rest,  i would say that Apple's free ride is coming to an end as more folks get ticked at the ads and at  problems like this the more they will remember them .... how logn did it take for Microsoft to get the black eye?  it took years before it was a public issue.

C you

The whole advertisment game is to tweak facts enough to make a product look better than the competition, or to make an outrageous price look reasonable. If buyers don't know any better, whose fault is that?

The old adage applies here: "It's immoral to let suckers keep their money". Some will learn, others will not. It's Darwinism applied to the wallet.

Uh-huh, and where were your threads when Dell and Sony windows machines had exploding batteries? Oh no, that's right, you're a zealot.

Most companies advertise to get folk to buy their stuff. The more I look at Apple's advertising, the more I think the company is  trying to convince it's fanbase that it made the right choice.
