Argh.

I could live with the impossible-to-remember site name (just search for scobleizer every time I want to go there)

I could live with the comments in a popup window

But now comments are down and have been for days!

C'mon Scoble, you're a pro...

I didn't even know Scoble's blog supported comments.

How do you get onto them?

My comments are down. Dave Winer posted this morning that he's under a denial-of-service attack. Sigh. On the other hand, I'm getting a lot done. It's like a little vacation from comments. Maybe I should turn them off permanently?

Or just enter scoble's new blog address as a command in YubNub.

Yeah, it's not cause of my blogging tool. It's cause Dave's server is under attack. That said, I'm inclined to turn them off. Talking on a Web forum like Channel 9 is a lot better place to have a conversation.
Or Scoble you could just shut down your blog altogether and open a new thread when you want to spray your thoughts onto the net.

Manip: that would be cool, but I've worked for years to get tens of thousands of subscribers. So, not gonna do that anytime soon.

I can see what you mean.  I've checked the comments a lot of the times and I usually see the same, boring comments (ahem Goebbels:\).

I think C9's more mature to handle a lot of the stuff.

Without comments you’re not listening.

That Goebbels guy must be someone who knew you in the past...

The easy way to get to Robert's blog is to just type in:

http://scoble.weblogs.com

And you're there!

I can't believe you guys are still using browsers. Well, it's your time you're wasting, not mine.

You can go to Google and type "Scoble" and you'll find it.

Or, visit Google and type "Robert" and you'll find it.

Or, visit Google and type "Microsoft geek" and you'll find it.

Works on MSN and Yahoo too.

Now that one's impressive!

Well, at least my blog's on the first page of the Google search results for my first name. =)

that blogging guy
Mr. "it's not a blog if there aren't comments" is thinking of turning off comments on his blog.

And then he's going to say in his book how comments are an absolute requirement.

I guess that's true, unless you have a discussion forum? What the heck. How is "post thought on blog, then make user go to discussion forum, register and look for the thread on the blog topic and respond" better than comments?

Sorry mate, but 90:1 you'll lose not only massive commenters, but massive readers. If the only thing I get from your feeds now is you, I'll probably unsubscribe in a month. It'd be like having Slashdot without the comments. It's very, very, very one-sided.

W-hat?
That Goebbels guy ain't me, FYI, I just share this same surename. Actually, I don't like him posting in the same comment section where I post.
That Goebbels guy is a Silicon Valley type, that's why I think he may have known Robert.

Robert has been only listing to PR guys who tell him what he wants to hear and never the truth.

Actually Scoble using C9 as your comments resource isn't a bad idea.

Of late I have noticed that the 'old guard' aren't the only people posting on C9, load of people that haven't been involved before are get into the debates. So much so that the debates on here now are very varied and diverse. Even Beer28 isn't that lone Linux voice any more.

On C9 you aren't going to get the usual bunch of followers, you are going to get gritty raw but truthful comments.

I like to think of C9 as the kind of place where you can buy anyone a beer but that still doesn't mean they are ever going to warm to your point of view. This is called honestly.

Eagle has a point ... Marketing guys are nice and all, but it's the Geeks that Trail blaze ... we generate the pulse of computer industry ... Marketing guys do follow behind.

Sampy mate ... you should have been at the London Geek dinner ... wall to wall Marketing guys. The Geeks were out-numbered!

Greetings,
If it automatically created a 'forum' for your posts, and then the comments button went there, I might agree...

As for the 'Comments will be obsoleted by a new technology' idea, here's something to think about...

It's not about you being able to find everyone who's commenting on your article, or even everyone being able to find who's commenting about your article.

It's about the perception of feedback, of conversation.  Not even necessarily the reality.  There've been some active, passionate comment threads on your blog that you never took part in.  If you disable comments, saying, 'Trust me, I'm watching the blogosphere for your responses...', it doesn't give the same perception of conversation.

If you disable comments, pointing people to C9 forums, saying, 'start a thread if you have something to say', you're adding several steps into the mix of giving feedback (not to mention registration).

The perception becomes 'it's too much work, he must not want to hear what we have to say'.  The perception becomes, 'He disabled comments, he must not be listening'.  In reality, you could be the most feed-addicted person in the world (a title I'm tempted to give you anyway), but perception defines our reality, so to the vast majority, you would be no longer listening.

For me, and I believe for many others, that you listen is a huge part of what makes yours an interesting (and even occasionally addictive) blog.  That I have the perception that I can debate an issue with you (even this one!), whether or not you actually take part, is a powerful fiction, and not one I think you want to disable any time soon.

Scoble, do you have a comment on David Weller's latest blog? Is it even possible that this is true? Are you following Lenn over to Skype?

Maybe he just got a new office....Robert would certinly have blogged it himself.

If he ever left Microsoft the Scobleizer would just move to Weblogsinc.
