If you re-read the kid’s original post ..., you’ll notice something interesting in his writing. His writing first of all is noticeably crappy, but it’s inconsistently crappy. Here are a few of my analytical thoughts…
First, he misspells the words “use to” (”uesto”), which most people would think is a simple mistake that happens when you type too fast. However, if that was the case, you’d probably see an inappropriate space somewhere, like this: “uest o” but you don’t.
Secondly, somewhat difficult words to spell (especially for those not as competent) appear to be purposefully misspelled, such as “forgein,” “miscelanius,” and “compitition.” These words are generally spelled correctly, but with letters mixed up. The first two words, foreign and miscellaneous, include the silent letters, g and c respectively, but are otherwise spelled incorrectly. What?
Third, with simple words misspelled, I would’ve expected other difficult words to also be misspelled, such as “dashboard” (spelled correctly twice), “everything,” “anything,” feedback.” Misspellings are so inconsistent that it would almost HAVE to be written poorly by somebody who knew how to spell but purposefully misspelled some words.
Fourth, what kid knows what a frame test is and can explain/test it, but can’t even spell or write very coherently?
Finally, the writing style is actually pretty organized, which makes me think an adult wrote it. It has an introduction/explanation, good rough layout of some of the xbox360’s features, it’s compared to the ps3 a few times (appropriately), and the final few lines are a conclusion. The last couple of lines are curious, too (”one more thing im not supposed tell this, but the power supply conecter thing for the xbox, lets just say its not COMPACT, witch might be why u havnt seen it in any pics.”). I believe that a kid would not use words like “stunning” or phrases like “let’s just say it’s not compact,” when at other times he uses words like “cool stuff” or “tons and tons and tons of other crap.”
And a quick note about the pictures. Why is there no furniture but there is a TV to test the 360? And not even an decent-sized, or HD TV?! You’d think that would be something that would be important to MS product testers. Also, how did the kid post these on the internet? Does he have a connection there, when they don’t even have furniture? Yeah, maybe he went to a friend’s house… probable? Likely?
One more thing. Has the kid posted anything else? If I were a kid and people didn’t believe me, I’d get on and post some more stuff so that I could prove them wrong.
My conclusion: FAKE. These were posted by MS to get some hype for the 360; look at how much hype it’s already gotten here - nearly 500 REPLIES, not to mention how many views or other publicity! In my opinion, this is great advertising on MS’s part - FREE and widespread.
