With Eagle around posting his useless posts I'm trying to click this link more, but it doesn't seem to work. Before when you clicked it it turned from the "Mark as Spam" hyperlink into grey text "Marked as spam"..or something like that. Now it doesn't.

I think it's somewhat ironic that during a discussion of the LSE project, C9 demonstrated the kind of suckiness that the Computerworld blogger may have been eluding to. I find it hard to believe that a company the size of Microsoft cannot implement a simple forum-based service without subjecting its users to this crap.

What hope did the LSE have?

Mono Webhosting

One of my colleague is looking for a Mono Shared Webhost for hosting a application provided to customers on ASP format. Their .net web-service application is compatible to Mono 2 and above and mysql. But currently being a small sized provider they would like to go for a shared hosting. The guy would like to have quite a bit space and bandwidth with multiple subdomains if possible.

I found some references on http://www.mono-project.com/FAQ:_ASP.NET about some hosting providers.

Has anyone used these providers ? How was your experience ? Any other suggestions ?

Sorry, when using replay button, the ADD button has no javascript function associated with it. I have to do this. Please move it for me if you can.

I failed to see how TradElect is involved. There is no direct proof that TradElect is at fault. And obviously they are running more than one computer system and the integration between them failed, and they said so themselves. I have seen that in my own company. The integration is so crappy, tons of problems occures, like missing orders in integration stage. Or we made too much changes to the system that it couldn't function normally anymore.

Computerword reports on the LSE's decision to drop the TradElect system that caused so much embarrassment to Accenture and Microsoft last year. The cost of the writeoff is about £40m – not small change in the current climate.

Going on the assumption that the problem was lack of visibility and partial working flight instruments (ie. no attitude etc readings but enough manual control to actually fly it), I would've simply asked for a beverage in a glass and watched the surface of that to determine the orientation of the plane. I would've also had a propeller hat with a speed-o-meter that I could've put out of the window to get the speed. :)

Microsoft has said it will price the full editions of Windows 7E -- the "E" stands for "Europe" -- at the lower upgrade prices until at least Dec. 31, 2009.

So that's interesting. Until you realise that Europe doesn't get any upgrade packages anyway, it's full clean install or nothing, because an upgrade from an existing system might leave bits of IE behind. So wow, we get a whole two months in Europe to get a cheaper version of Win7. That's "nice".

Of course it's still overpriced compared to the US upgrade prices:

The "full" version of Windows Professional will cost EU users €285, or $400.28, at Tuesday's exchange rate, even though that edition will be priced at the "upgrade" amount. In other words, EU customers will pay twice the $199.99 U.S. price.

Revolution 9: Apply for editor upgrade?

Default editor - does not allow very much (because people might abuse it)

But if you have posted on 9 for over 6 months ... perhaps you could "apply" for an editor upgrade to your account.

Specifically - all embeds, iframes, and html /table w/images pasting works again.

Studying or Working ?

I just graduated! I'm now Proffesional Bachelor in IT. I graduated top of my class with 81%. I'm 21 years old (22 in august) and am thinking about what to do.

# I can study 2 more years and my Master in IT (and make more money in the end)
# I can go to work and try to make it in "the real world" (and make money now)

I'm still living at home and can life at home for two more years. What would you do?

We have an internal app which we use to remote into PC's using RDP, which then prompts the support desk to enter a report of work done. Were looking at capturing there actions in a video format. I've been looking for a .NET library for this but can't fins one.

Any suggestions?
