I'm white because I smelt an onion.
Can you post somewhere an outline (or even a cool diagram) of the new codebase (if you haven't already done it)?
Would be cool to see how different processes work (adding a post, rendering a thread, etc).

Pretty please with a cherry on top! Big Smile

This topic demands Visios and PowerPoints.  I hate them (Due to their association with Meetings, which suck the life out of me), but they do convey information effectively.

It finds lightbulbs.

Despite this undoubtedly leading to the inevitable "omg no wonder v4 sucks you guys are doing this all wrong", I'm pretty interested in seeing how it all works beneath the surface. So, thirded.

Yeah a set of high level diagrams would be sweet:

Logical arch, physical Arch, general flow, key classes  that sort of thing.

like how the domain maps to the server farm, how the sql data connects, is the db a single or a cluster and so forth.

perhaps also a C9 Video of the C9 / what you call this framework ?  I forget the name ?

I will point out that none of these images exist today and we'd not only have to create them but look up the definitions of some of them Tongue Out I bet we could come up with a few quick ones for certain elements but an all-up diagram wouldn't be super useful and would be tough to create.

I think "What happens when I request the Homepage/Coffehouse" might be a fun little walk thru.

Yea that would be very good.

the basic diagrams I was thinking of should not be too hard, like you have a domain name that is sent to [an IP] | [an IP list] ?
which then goes to a [  load banlancer] | [ windows web farm ]
then it goes to a [__________]
and so on...

but as a Visio diagram / pdf etc...

one view is logical another is physical --
for example if the web servers are in 2 data centers the logical view does not show that.

but yeah a class diagram of all tenthousand classes would just be like getting a micro-photo of a CoreDuo cpu, fun to look at but no one can really read every little bit.    Smiley

There might be a few things we could point out that someone took more "ownership" of, but I'm not sure there's a single feature in everything we build that isn't touched in some way by all of us.

P.S. Charles brought up doing a Going Deep video on our stuff a while back.  After reading this thread I pinged him again.  We'll see what happens.  Smiley
