What did you do to fix this? I ran into the same problems on another machine.

Site is totally broken on Ubuntu with Firefox 3.0.5

It seems to be sensing the browser and feeding it some kind of broken JavaScript. If you change useragent to Internet Explorer the site works fine!

Weird... I see all these complaints about this site in Ubuntu, yet whenever I access it in Ubuntu it works fine.

Yes there is a problem (posting this in IE 7 on Vista)

I can log in, but cannot create a new post, nor can I reply to one either.

Right I'm seeing both the bad request error and the unable to reply bug right now if FF3.0.5.

Grrr...

This is getting rediculous now - can't access the site at all in FF currently.

Oh well, hopefully 'twill get fixed on Monday.
The site's working fine for me in Firefox 3.0.5 on Windows Vista.

Fixed?

I have been unable to use Channel 9 as well as reported prior. The fact that joechung said this was working for him led me to believe the cause was elsewhere.

The fix is to choose Tools->Clear Private Data and ensure you select your cookies as well and voilà, it works. I have just posted this in FF which was not working prior to clearing my private data (you can keep your passwords though).

I just got this error in Google Chrome...  removing the WT_NVR cookies (just those) fixed it for me.

To aid in debugging, here's the Wireshark trace of the failed connection (it's pretty obvious what's happening here):

Looks like C9 is storing recent threads visited in a cookie, and not limiting the amount of data that they're storing (thereby exceeding IIS's header size limit).

I want my scalps!
If you know that cookies are transmitted back and forth for each request, you should really consider keeping that as small as possible. Using it to cache lots of data is a bad idea. And, if I understand it correctly, cookies are also sent for EACH request, including those for stylesheets, external JavaScript-files and images. Large cookies => a LOT of traffic => slower than it should be.

We aren't putting that data there on purpose... it seems to be auth related. I'll see what we can do, once I fire up fiddler and do a bit of repo work

Update: as far as I can see, this is coming from webtrends, our analytics tool (relatively recently implemented)... I'd suspect they use it to do some sort of user path tracking... it is a bit of a problem, since I just clicked around for a few minutes and ended up with

Works fine for me here on XP SP3, Fx 3.0.5.

It does seem that occasionally the reply button gets borked, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for it.  Restarting the browser usually fixes it.

There is definitely an issue with Firefox cookies and Channel 9.

Today I could not log in and edit a post on a pc and laptop. Only once I had specifically cleared just my cookies did the issue go away.

Well I am running VISTA Ultimate 64 bit and Firefox 3.0.6

It was broken for sure

Cleared cookies and what not and it appears to be working now...

Pain that I have to relog in though, been so long that I forgot my Live ID and all that...
Unfortunately that Live ID uses an email address that is no longer even active.

Passwords and Logins are a pain in the butt.....

Edit...

Thanks vesuvius for the tip.....
