I had a hard time sleeping last night. I didn't want to get out of bed, so I grabbed my Samsung Blackjack (not Blackjack II) and surfed to Channel 9 hoping to watch a few videos.

I couldn't.

What's the deal? Is it MY phone? Or is it Channel 9?

Seems like there should be a way for those of us on Smartphones to mainline some MSDN videos.

Can anyone help me out?

Kevin

I'm having the same problem. Bought a new HTC Touch HD with QVGA 480x800 resolution, so this should be great.

However, I'm unable to view video's in Internet Explorer. When I click the play botton, is opens Windows Media Player and start the audio track... no video.

I hope Windows Mobile 6.5 has an up-to-date Internet Explorer version with Silverlight and Flash support!

ach, the problem here is a lack of knowledge of Windows Mobile's video support on my part. We moved our video formats to the VC-1 based Windows Media codecs, which produce better quality for that bitrate in our experience, not realizing that Windows Mobile doesn't support that codec and (unlike windows media player on the desktop) doesn't seem to download new codecs when required.

I'll file a bug on this, perhaps we can add a Windows Mobile specific video output to our system.

I'm not a developer, so correct me if I'm wrong:

Isn't the video playback based on Silverlight? Or is Silverlight just a "shell" that uses external codecs and stuff? If not, why not base all the playback on Silverlight, and embed Silverlight in Windows Mobile 6.x (simple talk) Wink

Embedding Silverlight into Windows Mobile isn't something that I can do, but yes ... if that were to happen then I would expect the videos would play fine.
