Awaking Vista from sleep! | Tech Off

I have only been using a wireless keyboard and mouse (MS Wireless Desktop 6000) for a couple of months and with Vista(5384) I have found that my PC will actualy go into stand-by over night.

Now this morning my Keyboard has 'disconnected' from the USB wireless receiver and will not reconnect due to the PC being in stand-by mode. I have changed batteries in the mouse and keyboard and I have tried inserting a CD, A USB Key, A second keyboard (PS2) a USB Mouse all to no end.

Do I have to hit the 'reset' switch to awaken Vista or am I missing something obvious?

Have you tried press the "sync frequency" button on the receiver and mouse/keyboard?

I did all of that and tried everything I could think of for a good 1-2 hours which is way past the normal patience I would go through. In the end I hit RESET and everything re-booted perfectly.

I am have ~~going to~~ changed my Network Card config to not allow Vista to put the NIC into sleep mode, thus letting me re-initate the machine from a second PC, I hope in theory.

New morning, same issue.

The change in the network card config also had no effect.

Jumped into my BIOS this time.

ACPI Suspend Type :-
S1(POS) Set suspend type to Power On Suspend under ACPI OS - It was this
S3(STR) Set suspend type to Suspend to RAM under ACPI OS - It is now this

Off by Power Button - Delay 4 Sec's (No mention of it being able to wake the computer from sleep) and of course after 4 seconds the PC went OFF ;P
