quit looking at me!
Anyone want to weigh in on the odds of the Compact Framework coming to the Palm OS? It's a fragile pipe dream I've had for quite some time now. I'm sure I'll never see it happen, but humor me.

WOOH! WOOH!
What about the Clie' or a remarkable facsimile? Sony has stopped making the wildly popular Clie' (based on the PalmOS) because they're coming out w/ their own. If Sony doesn't want to pay licence fees to PalmSource, they'd propbably not want to do the same for MSFT.

Now, Sony & IBM are partnering up to create the PlayStation 3 -- with IBM providing the CPU & development platform based on Linux.

Is it a stretch to say Sony's new PDA will be based on Linux? With Mono already out, could Compact-Mono be far behind? Too sleepy to contemplate....zzzzz

Mono is already usable on the Zaurus, I imagine you could just use plain Mono on a Sony linux PDA...

You have to admire anyone that tries to enter the mobile market space with something new, because, and lets be totally honest here, no-one really likes trail blazing something unless it is already (or has the potential to be) head and shoulders above the competiton and in a completely obvious way.

The Pocket PC running .NET CF on a DELL, Tosh or HP is fast becoming the de-facto standard. Sony would be better off entering the space with there own offering, and thats usually with bags of style. Bound to be an easy win.

As for Sony joining forces with IBM, please!!! It's like an ugly Gazelle breading with a Hippo after a few beers at a good party, cos they feel they have too. Just plain nasty and someone is going to get squashed! Wink
