On Location Photo Viewing

Is there such an application (preferably open source or free) where you can hook up your dslr (possibly Olympus E-500) to a laptop and run software that right after you take a picture, you can view the photo on the laptop screen for previewing?

Or, is there a way to make this in .NET?

Or just pop out the SD card and stick it into your computer. My TabletPC has an SD card slot. Do newer laptops have the same?

I'm talking about while the USB cable is still plugged in. Is there a way to use the laptop as the preview after you take the picture via USB or something?

They let you take a picture from software instead of using the buttons on the camera and the photos are displayed instantly on the computer.

My Canon camera came with software to do remote shooting.

Ya, I told my brother (who owns the camera) about this and he said that he got software like that on the CD that came with the camera.

If I'm not mistaken, you can monitor the camera's image directory with managed code. Just index all the file names in there, and when the directory changes, check for the newest file and display it automatically. Doesn't seem like too complex an app.
