So I listen to sirius at work and my receiver is connected to the line-in on my sound card.  I just recently installed vista (complete reinstall) and I can't figure out how to have the line-in be anything but an input source for recording.  I just want to do pass-through so I can use my speakers for windows and for the sirius.  Anyone know how to do this in Vista?

I know the line-in is working as I can record from the port.  I just can't figure out how to get the line-in audio to pass through.

Also..  anyone had problems with Explorer hanging in vista when connecting to a network share?  I have one server on my network that will hang explorer every time I connect to it.  I can connect to other servers without issues.  The only difference is the server that causes the hang is in our DMZ.  My xp box can connect to the server all day without problem.  I thought the problem started when I turned on the network discovery service, but I have since turned the service off and the problem continues.
Okay!  I found it guys.  It seems that many people are having the same problem.  I've had extreme computer experience for years, and something as simple as this, I could not figure out.  This bugged the hell out of me so I spent well over 2 hours figuring out a solution.  Here it is.  I had the exact same problem, as I was trying to get the sound from my Xbox 360 to play through my computer speakers because I have a good sound system with my computer.  So, right click on your volume, then open recording devices.  Double-click microphone, and then click properties, then click Change Settings, and then click the driver tab, and then click Update Driver.  This will download the latest driver for Windows Vista Volume.  After it downloads and installs, restart your computer and then it will work fine.  If you have some computer knowledge, this should be no problem as long as you follow the instructions exactly.  You're welcome guys!
I wanted to check and see if anyone else had found other suggested fixes for this problem with the audio.  I too used my Xbox 360 through the Line-in jack on my old XP machine.

I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit on brand new hardware (EVGA 680i motherboard with built-in HD audio).  Right now it shows that it is using the Microsoft High Definition Audio Device driver, last updated on 6/21/2006.

I tried the update driver fix that you suggested, but Windows just reported it could not find a better driver (and I have not found better drivers elsewhere).

I've spent a good four hours trying to figure this out, and have just run out of search queries to try.

I appreciate any assistance anyone can offer, and I apologize for bumping such an old thread.

My apologies.  Of course it took five minutes after I posted this to realize that it might help to hunt down different drivers.  I've resolved my issue.
