This is a VS 2005 settings question:

I've just moved to a new PC at work and I cannot reproduce the exact VS 2005 settings that I managed to get on my old machine (which has now been wiped Sad )

I had my old machine set up so that whenever I built code, the output screen would show as the current tabbed document.  I cannot for the life of me remember how I managed to get it to do this, and (being a pedantic programmer) want to see the output for every build and don't want to have to 'Crtl-W, O' every time.

Can anyone help?

you just make it "Tabbed Document" (in order to do that you need to disable first, Auto Hide) then hide it, then go to Tools->Options->Project and Solutions->General -> *TADA* Show Output Windows when Build start

now anytime you build, it will show up like a tabbed document, anyway strange choise... why don't you use build scripts?
