I've installed SQL Server 2005 Developer edition (64bit version) on my Vista 64bit machine.  After installing it the only thing I can find is the SQLEXPRESS instance, in SSMS.  I tried putting the installation DVD back in and reinstall it, but it says the default instance is already there.

So, why can't I see it and open it in SSMS?  I think I've got SP2 installed for SQL 2005.

I have just checked in SQL Server Configuration Manager, and have found that SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) is running.  However, both the SQL Server Browser and the SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) are not running.  When I look at my machine's Services applet I see that the SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) is set to start manually, and the SQL Server Browser is disabled.  I don't know if this would have anything to do with the problem I'm having or not, but I thought I would mention it.

With SQL 2005 on Vista I have to append my login username to the instance.
