Before C# there was darkness...

Gillmor Gang with Scoble on the line are talking about PubSubHubbub here.  http://gillmorgang.techcrunch.com/

Funny thing, people think this Pub/Sub and Push stuff is new and forget it is about 20 years old (i.e. IMAP, SNNP, etc).  I forwarded them over to Erik's Rx and his video.  Seems Techcruch wants to give Winer credit for PubSub here:

"Dave Winer deserves the credit for coming up with the idea long before anyone else..."

Give me a break!.  I guess he invented TCP also.   Also of note, Robert has a new baby and was in the video.  Congrats Robert!  Another RSSer in the making.

They also talked about Linux's ePoll.  Which I guess is something new that allows server to manage 100K+ TCP sockets. I was not aware of this technology. What is MS's answer to this?  Doesn't windows still foobar after about 3K, or is that changed?  Hint, Hint, Rx Notify abstraction of TCP Accept is needed here:

var q = from s in TcpClient.Connections(3300)

             where s.ClientIPAddress != 4.x.x.x

             select s;

foreach(TcpClient s in q)

{

     // process client.

}

From some Exchange 2010 stuff I was reading the other day, on x64 60K connections per server IP should be possible, depends on how much RAM you've got.
