Is this the final features set ?
There's still no GPU support for shaders or 3D ?
Do you know when this will be available ?
I don't get the whole OOB strategy... don't you think you kind of re-create WPF ?
Great stuff BTW !
I think the difference is that you can use a Silverlight OOB application on other systems, the Macintosh. That´s not possible with WPF. It´s a fantastic feature if you ask me.
@Flynn0r: I agree it's a fantastic feature... so why not port WPF on others systems instead ? I mean one of the goal of the CLR was cross platform development, right ? When Silverlight will get every feature WPF has, then WPF will be useless :/
WPF still has its place and it paved the way for XAML. Silverlight 4 beta OoB features allow developers to create powerful apps on a Mac or a PC. The gap between Silverlight and WPF is getting smaller, but that's pretty much expected since WPF had a head start.
We have a midium size WPF app (>100,000 lines of code) with a lot of xaml interactivity. Right from the beginning we intend to port it to Silverlight when Silverlight matures. Are we approaching a situation when you can just open a WPF app in Silverlight and it will run? If so, when is that likely to be? Silverlight 5?
TIA
