any veggie 9ers? (thread)

** first of all - i love meat ... was a chef for 12 years (pre-internet/windows 3.1) **

BUT... we've had our Nova scotia sculptor friends staying with us (for a YEAR - long story) but one of their daughters is a vegetarian - so i hate serving meat and then going " oh and heres your salad .. or tofu or whatever"

So since sept - I just switched to no meat. it wasnt even that hard (wish i could do that with smoking)

Ive learned all about soy "meat-ish" products - mainly learning how to make them myself - using TVP (Textured Vegetable Protien)

In canada we have Loblaws - which in house brand Presidents Choice - makes all kinds of soy based products (meatballs, "chicken" fingers, sausages, ham, etc etc)

Does it taste like ass? ... sometimes... but in general - if you know how to cook - you dont even miss it.

I watched food Inc. on dvd the other night - horrific.. but not if you dont eat meat (well 75% - still issues with veggies)

basically its the COST ... no one will pay more for good proper food (crap i sound like friggin jamie oliver)

damb take-aways and crisps!

anyway - just blabbing. if you want to lose weight though- it seems to work. im down 12 pounds (stone? :p)

so i intend to keep going.

anyone else a veg-head?

i liked the new msn butterfly - mainly cause its different but the same.
i tried doing the same angled thing with IE...
didnt really work - but sort of looks funky.

They should maybe try to update IE logo - its looking old
(but still make it recognizable)

youve got .... 10 shortcuts on your desktop...

lets say you want to search inside - 3 or 4 of those...

why cant you hit cntrl / select / 3 icons - then - right mouse - Search inside (select)

and you get a search box flyout... "business card" - search = returns results.

i tried creating libraries (lol - what a useless feature - or totally unexplained how to use it one...)

maybe even under "Properties" of 3 selected items = new tab - Search within... or something

..i know this is hardly news - but i finally formatted this.. XP Media centre - to vista betas - to vista - to win 7 betas - to release candidate.

I have not - fresh loaded - windows in years.

Just wanted to say - it loaded without asking for one Motherboard driver, video card, sound card - anything.

Device manager clean - super fast.

should have done this long ago (rebooting no longer takes 10 minutes - and i also had windows spread across c and d drives (somehow)

anyway - just posting that it was impressive - in the dont bug me for anything dept.

PS - i chickened out on 64bit.. went with 32

as in - if jono runs 32bit sonar - with 32 bit waves plugin - will it still use all the ram - if you have it

( sonar 64 loaded on touch screen 64 - but "Waves" plugin is only 32 bit - wouldnt come in

so if he used sonar 32 - with waves 32 - will it still use all the ram - if its win7 64

* yes after 10 years hes finally testing something other than xp:)

Mitsibishi Outlander ( V6 / 4WD) *1 yr old - 2008 - 36k kilometres - mint

* i have had 3 dodge caravans in a row for over 25 years - and i ...i....HATE..them now. Especially the new FRIDGE version on wheels (like the element and the soul and some other weird car i saw. - do people not stop to think about aero dynamics on these BOXY designs?

anyway - no more caravans - with the bench seats you have to take out.

so now that chrome has 20 ugly themes... and firefox has 20 thousand (ugly themes) ... and both browsers are trying to rid the world of rectangular - unchangeable toolbars... what is IE doing in this regard?

Me? summer has been pretty busy work wise .. usually is dead.. apart from work - painted the back siding, built a fence, re-planted grass everywhere ... got a new awning ... not much else. garbage strike in toronto - so you gotta pick projects that dont generate waste.. id post a few pics but my camera bat. is dead and its raining. tomorrow.

anyway - havent stopped by in a while - hows everyone doing? what are you doing (this summer!)

Default editor - does not allow very much (because people might abuse it)

But if you have posted on 9 for over 6 months ... perhaps you could "apply" for an editor upgrade to your account.

Specifically - all embeds, iframes, and html /table w/images pasting works again.

quick idea about fonts ... on the web.

Q: why not include 2000 fonts with win7 (or partner with corel to do it)

It sure would bug Adobe.. and SteveB could announce:

there could be Font packs rolled out as well - for sure one containing Segoe - entire family
(in the old days - MS pushed for fonts on the web - first with weft etc)

This is more of a demo of using the pc as a home hub than the pc itself.
I tried a video this morning, but it was over a gig, and blurry.

This shows stuff you need at a fingertouch - like ... radio, maps, calendar, order pizza, weather, fireplace etc
Joby is going to love the kids page

- click the video twice to open at youtube (to see bigger or fullscreen)

..not sure but i think not. I am going to remove those energy star / windows and intel stickers - stuck on my kiosk (carefully!)

Hi 9team - a request:

please restore the functionality to the editor - no not the old original functionality - the recent version.

It is impossible to post and edit with it - examples:

1. before you could go to a page - hit select all copy - and come to c9 and paste it )all images all text (extra formatting removed)
NOW - this no longer works - so you must manually add each image.

but wait - you cant hit the image and copy - you must choose - copy image URL
then go to the editor - and paste
then hit INSERT - on the wrong side (cancel! is on the right side...

and then you must do it again - but - each time you hit edit - the edit window loses its mind and doesnt open to the end of the form window

so you need to use the down arrow key - all the way down each time - to wake it up to display the full window

2. EDITING - after youve posted a long post: First the images display actual size - in the TINY edit window - and then see above - the edit window stops after one image. using the down arrow in edit mode is dicy... it usually takes you to the further most edge of an image - say - 1000 pixels over from where you type

as an added pet peeve - hitting enter now makes a HUGE space instead of a normal one - so youve added "Shift enter" to our posting routine as well

please fix this - an editor is for posting easy - not spinning flash animations and herky jerky scrolling madness

my mom hates computers... mainly because she cannot type and doesnt understand the mouse... but the new computer.. she was here all day.

i opened youtube and typed.. jonathan winters, marilyn monroe, jackie o, dick cavet interviews, woody allen band etc

she couldnt believe it.

she has long nails - so i wont let her touch the screen - but i gave her a pencil (eraser end) and said to click what she likes

..she learned youtube full screen button and escape button... my MOM!

so this technology is more than it appears :)

edit: she also clicked the videos down the right side.. but hasnt learned the search box yet ..still - for her its amazing
