I followed all instructions here but got an error ( Civil engineering degree ) "install.sql is not a valid connection string or an absolute path". All examples I could find from other places regarding how to "sync" (i.e. run) a script to a destination database using the web deployment tool. They all do something like "d:\something.sql". How do we refer to a sql script embeded in a package then? Either I missed something very basic or the author didn't test these instructions against a real database application. Any info would be deeply appreciated.

The WebDeploy user interface requires IIS7 and IIS Manager. That is why we specify that this method is only available for testing packages on Windows 2008 and Vista. For other platforms, the batch file method is the only way currently to test applications packages. I'm not sure I understand your concern with using the batch method. Seeing the installed application as a result is the way to test the package. If it installs correctly using the batch file method with valid parameter values provided, then you are most of the way there. The only things that don't get tested using that method are the way the tags influence the user interface. However, the number of tags is small, and you can see many examples of how they are rendered by installing any of the other applications in the Gallery.

I as well followed all the instructions and got an error. hvac install.sql is not a valid connection string or an absolute path. After a couple of hours or researching I got it working, let me tell it is a very neat feature. Great JOB !

I think this web tool is very helpfull and is a great idea. I have a airsoft sniper rifle website and I really need all the help I can get. These days it cost a arm and a leg to hire a professional designer / programmer. I am very excited about learning myself and become a better designer.
