In this half a day event Ken Casada presented two new entries within the Microsoft's Web Stack space: WebMatrix, a small, simple and best of all free tool for building web sites; and Orchard, a free Open Source CMS being developed by Microsoft that uses ASP.NET MVC.
In the first part of the TechTalk we will focus on WebMatrix and his components. WebMatrix is in fact not just a simple tool designed to make web development really easy, but it comes with three new interesting pieces: a new developer-optimized version of IIS with built-in ASP.NET and PHP support (called IIS Developer Express), a new web framework called ASP.NET Web Pages with “Razor” syntax for building inline web pages and a new version of Microsoft embedded database (SQL Server Compact 4), which is xcopy deployable and has been optimized for web applications. During the talk we will walk you through building a new web site from scratch using all those new components.
