Silverlight 1.0 has left the building! For a lightweight (1MB) release, Silverlight delivers a lot: HD video, vector graphics and animation, running on browsers from Firefox to Safari and operating systems from Windows to Linux and its myriad of distros.

In this hot-off-the-presses interview, Scott Guthrie (General Manager of the team behind Silverlight and a host of other .NET technologies) gives Dr. Sneath the inside scoop on how he thinks about Silverlight and where it's heading in the next release.

Check out Scott's blog post for more information.

Yeah Baby!!

Come Get Some !

Now for SL 1.1 !!

I will watch later ... I'm at work atm...

big question I have:  import Photoshop .psd files into expression blend / design.

when I tried to do that it seems that design just makes a big bitmap of the layered vector'ed psd which is about worthless.

for the near term not many (if any) art / design types will have any of the expression stuff, most if not all of them have paid big $$$ for the photoshop and flash tools. they will make things in that tool set.

so we need *MUST HAVE* tools that bridge that gap!

I know that E-Rain is working on a flash to xaml tool... that's one place that can help.

but what about a .psd to .xaml tool also ?? anyone doing one??
MSFT or anyone ??

WOOH! WOOH!
Please MS, pay attention to the installation experience of Silverlight. So many times in the past we have to wait on a blank screen, then boom! the plugin / ActiveX control pops in.

Please do something like the Windows Update control detection. People don't mind the slow download (some of us still consider <10 MB download slow) if you give us progress updates (or fake it).

I hope that the update gets rolled in wu so it's just there on clients after a few updates ...

Make it so
Probably not the right place to ask this, but it's something that bugged me a little this very moment:

Is there a way to copy and paste text which is displayed by Silverlight? e.g. on text intensive sites like www.tafiti.com it would be nice to actually be able to select and copy text.

Will Expression Studio Blend version 2.0 fully support Silverlight through 1.1 and 2.0?

Also, to what extend will development be supported inside Blend as opposed to having to develop in Visual Studio and then move to Blend?

Suggest a second video on tool support for Silverlight development as well as design.

Cool

Here is an example from our Chairman, Prof. Dr. M. Yasar Ozden.
Using Silverlight 1.0, Streaming of a well known channel from Turkey.
There are also other videos in English. [Streaming of course.]
