Think satellite and birds-eye imagery was cool? Wait until you see streetlevel! Seattle alone is 10 million images. Check out this prototype at http://preview.local.live.com. More info is on the MSN Search Blog.

Tablet Power

WHOW AMAZING!!!

But what happends when the pizza shop becomes another store or moves? How long will it take before it updates?

How do they got rid of all the privacy stuff, like number plates of cars and faces of people, etc.?

Btw. What is the key for using the gas thing that is lying in front, like the one they use in 2 fast 2 furious:)

I think it is very cool, still rough around the edges but has the possibility of a bright future.

You should read some of the comments on Digg, bashing the product left right and center obviously. I cant wait to read the comments on Slashdot when they post it Expressionless

I got so annoyed with the ignorant nature of the slashdot news, I removed it from my google home page Smiley
This is cool. It would be great if, in the future, you could create "macros" of driving directions for a virtual driving/walking tour of an area. This would be great, for instance, for tourism agencies and realators. I could even see enthusists creating specialty tours -- "my favorite hang-outs" or something along those lines; when you start taking this technology across international boundaries, it would be a great way to get a taste of someplace far away.

Again, this is really cool. I can't wait to see how it evolves.

Look, no errors.
Is it just me or is this thing very difficult to use? There seems to be a lot of misplaced images and the car keeps leeping over buildings causing me to lose my place. I'll stick to the bird's eye view for now.

I must commend the team for making this cross-browser friendly though, I was worried it wouldn't work in my favourite browser, especially since even Live Mail apparently doesn't work in my favourite browser.

Proud to be geek ....

The XBOX marketing people should get views from PGR3 behind a web interface like this, the 'virtual view' could just be an alternative layer to the street view.

(OK perhaps no real practical use, but a fun thing to do!)
