Founded in 1999, EastBanc Technologies is a Washington, DC-based software development and system integration company. It has an international portfolio of customers and specializes in mobile applications development, enterprise portal solutions, business intelligence, and cloud computing. Eastbanc Technologies used Microsoft’s Windows Azure platform to develop the Public Transit Data Community (PTDC), a Windows Azure-based solution that aggregates static and real-time data from many mass transit operators in SQL Azure, exposes it in a variety of common formats (e.g. OData, KML), and enables independent developers to build innovative transportation applications on a variety of platforms and devices.
In this interview with Vlad Vinogradsky, several members of the EastBanc Technologies team - Wolf Ruzicka (CEO), Evgeny Popov (Microsoft Practice Lead), and Vadim Zagorodniy (Project Lead) – told the story behind the project, explained the reasons for hosting the solution in the Windows Azure, described solution architecture, and showed a few awesome applications (including a free Windows Phone 7application) for commuters they have developed using the data provided by the solution.
For additional information about the project see the official case study “Firm Uses Cloud Services to Unify Data from Transit Systems, Improve Access to Schedules”.
