!exploitable (pronounced "bang exploitable") Crash Analyzer is a plugin for the Windows Debugger that parses your crash logs and gives you two important pieces of information. First, it will collate all of your crashes and determine exactly how many there actually are. So for example, out of 60 crash reports, there may only be 2 or 3 actual problems.

The second thing it does is look at the type of crash and try to determine if the error is something that could be exploited by a malicious hacker. This means that more junior employees can work these bug issues without taking the time of more senior examiners. Jason Shirk from the Security Core team joined us to take a look at !exploitable. To download the app, go to: http://www.codeplex.com/msecdbg.

Truth be told, I'm just a huge fan of the Arc Mouse. I like everything about it and along with earbuds and phone it's a gadget that I always tend to have in my pocket. Recently while sitting on hold I spent far too long fascinated by the mouse and all the considerations that were taken in by the designers. It's time we introduce you to the folks who come up with Microsoft's hardware. They are Ralf Groene, Team Manager, Design Leads Monique Chatterjee and Jan Raken, and Industrial Designers Kate Bailey, Lindsey Kujawski, Chris Kujawski, and Anthony Reed.

I would have loved to show you the area they work in, but because far too many forthcoming miracles are in various states of foam and sketch around the room, it wasn't to be. But suffice to say it's one of the coolest spaces I've seen yet with offices circling a common space with Foosball and a kegerator. No cube farms here. So join me and meet the people who make it easy to take gadget comfort for granted.[more ]

Here is a first look at a new product out of MSR that uses a Microsoft Surface computer integrated as a drop in replacement for a stove top. The diffused glass normally used for a Surface is replaced with a tempered glass which is then heated with an array of lasers that heat the stove top while giving you all the same features found in other Surface computers. It can heat up to 520 degrees and uses only 30% of the energy of a comparable stove top, recouping the added cost over the course of several years, depending on how often you use your stove.

Yochay Kiriaty, PDC2008 team member and author of a new blog for Windows 7 Developers, has announced the release of PDC Proceedings for the sessions held at PDC.   In a conference as big as the PDC, you may not always go to every session you want. This new resource aims to help fill that gap. While videos of sessions are available, it takes time to sit through them to see if they have the content you want, and who has time to sit and watch 400 hours of content?  Download a short summary of 80+ sessions by going to the session and in the resource area select Proceeding (Detailed Session Description). See example here.
