Yochay Kiriaty, PDC2008 team member and author of a new blog for Windows 7 Developers, has announced the release of PDC Proceedings for the sessions held at PDC. In a conference as big as the PDC, you may not always go to every session you want. This new resource aims to help fill that gap. While videos of sessions are available, it takes time to sit through them to see if they have the content you want, and who has time to sit and watch 400 hours of content? Micrsoft Demonstrates DryadLINQ

Developed by a team from Microsoft Research, DryadLINQ is a powerful programming environment that enables ordinary programmers to write large-scale data parallel applications to run on large PC clusters. The platform comprises Dryad, a distributed execution engine that allows reliable, distributed computing across thousands of servers for large-scale data parallel applications, and the .NET Language Integrated Query, or LINQ, which allows developers to write and debug applications in a SQL-like query language, using the entire .NET library and Microsoft Visual Studio.

Robochamps: Help Explore the Red Planet

Opportunity’s exploration of the Endurance Crater on the Martian surface among other challenges. The competition brings robotics to a broader audience by overcoming the prohibitive cost, lack of access and specialist knowledge associated with physical robots. Based on Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 2008, RoboChamps enables students, developers and hobbyists to program virtual robots using the .NET languages. RoboChamps will form part of the 2009 Microsoft Imagine Cup, the world’s largest student technology competition.

We Love Robots

At Microsoft, we love Robots. Turns out, we’re not the only ones. Our friends at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory have brought a full scale replica of the Mars Exploratory Rover to display in the “Big Room” next to the Robotics Booth. In addition, some of the actual engineers and scientists from the Pasadena lab working on the Rover will be on-hand to answer questions and geek out with PDC attendees. Make sure to stop by, get a picture of yourself with the Rover, and ask all those questions you have for the “rocket scientists” at NASA!

Today at PDC, we announced the availability of some new identity related services and technology, specifically the Microsoft Federation Gateway (full release) and the Microsoft Services Connector (community technology preview) - both of which make it possible for organizations to easily adopt Microsoft services and applications built by third parties using the Azure Services Platform. Bluehoo Application hosted on Windows Azure

Steve Marks invited Jonathan Greenstead, CEO of Sentinent on stage during Monday's PDC2008 keynote to demo Bluehoo, a rich application hosted by Windows Azure. Built in Silverlight and coded entirely in Visual Studio C++, Bluehoo is a location-based social networking tool to see people that are nearby.

Windows Live ID committed to OpenID

Beginning today, Windows Live ID is publicly committing to support the OpenID digital identity framework with the announcement of the public availability of a Community Technology Preview (CTP) of the Windows Live ID OpenID Provider.

You will soon be able to use your Windows Live ID account to sign in to any OpenID Web site!

The Windows Live ID OpenID Provider (OP) enables anyone with a Windows Live ID account to set up an OpenID alias and to use that alias for identification at an increasing number of OpenID 2.0 relying party sites.
