I'm still referring to 'WCF' as 'Indigo'.

I have said this before ... but Microsoft seriously have to look at their naming policy, they come up with great code-names that stirs the imagination and then go and ruin it by giving it a really dull release name or a bunch of meaningless initials that aren't really that exciting.

Why? Doesn't word 'Indigo' project enough professionalism?

Can't say 'Indigo' to a business person can you ? They aren't going to think your serious, right ? Wrong ! When I talked about Indigo in my company way back, the business types got hooked on on the same things as me, good technology is infectious whether you are a geek or not and this is the case with Indigo!

Indigo isn't boring!!!! It deserves not to be dulled down with 'WCF'.

Yeah - I was the naughty person.

You might have noticed a bit of bad camerawork around the first five minutes - lots of shaking and stuff.

I've watched Charles walk around, recording people while holding the tripod on which the camera was mounted. I thought it was really weird.

I have since realized that there are some very good reasons for not holding the camera, but, instead, carrying a camera mounted on a small tripod:

1. Reduces shake (the tripod adds weight, so you're less likely to jiggle the camera)

2. Prevents you from accidentally covering the mic (this is what I must have done when I was filming)

From here on out, I'll never record without a tripod-mounted camera - whether the camera is stationary or not.

On a serious note:

This workflow thing looks neat, if you restrict yourself to simply procedural development...but that isn't really agile. Does WF have a way to do OOP? Building custom classes, etc...

My god, NO! Hehe. "Next couple of months"? Oh boy. Why wait so long? WCF is exciting stuff. Its no wonder why they are all happy and wanting to party. They've worked long and hard at this and they deserve a lil break.

I haven't seen the whole video yet as its still downloading, I've only seen up to where what the "W" and the "C" and the "F" means to someone. Speeds are slow tonight :( Usually I can start the download on my linux box and start up WMP and not have to worry about it stopping cause its out of stream. its putzing along at 60-80BK/sec.

Anyways, yes, do more videos on WCF and stuff like that, demos on how to use WCF. I Love these Don Box vids, they always seem to have "fun" in the overall theme of them. Seems like a great guy to work for.

I saw a vid once, don't know where, but they were talking about WCF and reliable communication. They showed communication without reliable communication, and with. The results were like night and day. If anyone knows what I am talking about please post the link to it? :)

But then as Rory's already explained it's not a logical thing (even if it has its own logic...like magical thinking)...otherwise think of the fact that with every breath you're inhaling bits of past generations of human beings, of which there are many, not to mention all the furry, scaley and squishy things that accompanied and preceded them...Or let's not.

I think some obsessive traits in the ol' personality are almost a job requirement in our line of work...when you look at the extreme fiddliness of programming, can you imagine any of those normal upright citizens who go about their business in blissful ignorance of the electronic chaos that threatens their tiny lives on all sides...sorry, what was I saying again?...Oh yeah...when you think of the things we have to pay attention to, can you imagine anyone totally normal actually having the patience?

I don't know, either, as I didn't really get much of an interview. I initially went down there to talk tech, but realized a little ways in that they were in Party Mode and weren't going to talk shop (I think that's the way it should be, too - having just shipped a couple products, a bit of Party Mode is very important).

Not sure my mom or any non-programming can use WF however (and I am not sure you can sell it that way with a straight face). It is a bit like SQLReporting in that regard. Lots of power and nice gui features, but for anything beyond "hello world", you still need to understand what is going on behind the covers and it has its own learned-art to it (i.e. getting data in and out of WF with events, etc). I do love the direction however and plan on digging in a lot more with the RTM bits.
