In part two of this three part demo/interview Dmitriy shows how you can create diagrams that represent the logical structure of a data center for the purpose of communicating important information to the developer about the target deployment environment.
He also shows off how the Distributed System Designers can also bind applications to these logical servers and validate them against the constraints of the application/data center prior to actual deployment.
For more information of the Visual Studio Team System Architect features check out this page:
http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/teamsystem/teamcenters/architect/default.aspx
In part three we do a more informal interview with the two.

Right now it looks like there is a problem with the streaming URL.
The download and stream now work fine.

Why only use one comment when you can just as easily use two?

It is very interesting to see business value of early validation of the systems against the deployment environment. But how would you physically move things to the machines ones you designed your solution?
Nice overall demo, any idea when this solution is going to be released?

Unfortunately, in this version of VSTA we do not provide physical deployment out-of-the-box. It is planned for V2.
However, with the
Deployment Report
feature (it is in the demo too), you can script against the XML file to deploy your applications. The directory structure
Deployment Report
will create for you will have your binary and content files (if so specificed for Deployment Report generation).
This product (
Visual Studio Team Architect)
is a part of Visual Studio Team System. I don't have (and even if I had, I couldn't tell you at this time:) the exact ship date for the product, but
Beta 2
will be available in a month or so. Those of you on CTP (
Community Technology Preview
) program can see all this functionality in their CTP releases.
Thank you,
Dmitriy Nikonov
