WinFS is the new file storage system in Longhorn and we're wondering about some ways that application developers might use it. Samuel talked about how Outlook Express will change due to WinFS.

How do you see it changing your applications?

Of all the Longhorn bits, WinFS has me the most excited! Sure, Avalon's attractive, and Indigo's useful, but WinFS is where it's at.

Everything else is just UI! Er, or communications.

Make a difference

Microsoft has such a great team and has an enormous amount of momentum. It is excellent to see you talking about open up the application file stores and concentrating on adding value rather than lock-in!

Excellent video!

Thanks, Chris. I'll tell you what, when we ship this sucker first thing I'm gonna do is put in for an application developer job. I can't wait to build apps on top of WinFS and Avalon myself.
