Ward Cunningham - How did you come up with the idea for the Wiki?

Ward Cunningham, who now works on the PAG team here (platform architecture guidance), was the guy who invented the Wiki. Even Channel9 now has a Wiki. So, we owe that feature to Ward. Here we start out our interview with him by asking how he came up with the idea for the Wiki. We hear he's lurking here too, so feel free to ask him some questions of your own.

FYI, Ward's wiki can be found here:  http://c2.com/cgi/wiki  (link already in article text).  There is an incredible wealth of knowledge on that site.

Cool sign. I did something similar when the company rented a new floor in the building. But mine said:

"Liberated Area - No bosses beyond this point"

Maybe that's why I didn't get a raise that year.

 It is cool to hear that wiki was born from just being lazy. Is it the truth? Good programmer is a lazry programmer.

I would love to hear more of what you are doing at PAG now, Woud you mind sharing?
