Andrew Parsons joins me to talk about WOWZAPP 2012 - the Worldwide Hackathon for Windows. WOWZAPP 2012 is an opportunity for developers and designers the world over to come together on a single weekend and exercise their talent and creativity through designing, building and testing apps and games for the Windows ecosystem. And we want all of you to take part! Find out what's in store for the developer world on November 9-11 2012 and start thinking how you can get involved, whether it be for Windows 8, Windows Phone, Windows Azure - or maybe all three. Check out http://www.wowzapp2012.com for more details and to see if there's a venue near you.

This is awesome! ... But why has the US been excluded from the party?
@Ken: Thanks, we think it's pretty darned awesome too! The US has certainly not been excluded, we're just finalizing some of the finer details before we publish their locations.
Yesterday we put up more countries, and today another batch is coming. We're expecting to add them on a daily basis over the next couple of weeks, so keep an eye out for US locations.
Amazing!! This is a wonderful opportunity for aspiring devs!
Question: Is Canada going to be added to the list? Especially the Edmonton, Alberta area?
Another question: Do you ever have events just for young devs in their early teens (ages 13 to 16 or 17)? This would be wonderful as I know many kids who would want to do this! You wouldn't believe how many young teens know or want to learn software developing (well maybe you would because of your job :) ). I could also be there to help teens who need help learning the new technologies.
Great job, guys! Keep it up and I hope to see these events happen soon!
Funny you should ask about Edmonton, I am helping organize Canadian events, and was in Edmonton yesterday, talking to someone about the possibility of having a WowZapp event in Edmonton. Feel free to reach out to me at sibach@microsoft.com and I'll make sure you are in the loop! Like the US we are still finalizing locations but WowZapp is happening to Canada!
hey, i am from india. I want to organise wowzapp event in my campus! I have zero experience as a developer but i aspire to be one. What i am supposed to do? Do we have to provide resources like systems with windows8 installed at our campus? What's our responsibility at campus as organisers?
Sadly, here in Switzerland the whole Idea was reduced to three presentations and a bird of feather on a single evening. I wrote a letter to MS Swiss to articulate my disappointment, and obviously they understood it as a form of job seeker networking event that they do not deem necessary in Switzerland :-( And no one in their right mind would spend so much time outside officehours (otherwise)
