The VS2010 Extension Manager
One of the big initiatives for Visual Studio 2010 was to incorporate the community directly into the IDE itself and the extension manager was created to achieve just that. This newcomer to VS allows the user to consume extensions posted to the Visual Studio Gallery right from within VS itself. It provides the ability to search and browse through the gallery's repository as well as manage the extensions you already have installed on your machine. New Editor Box Selection
Since VS 2010 Beta1 became publicly available last week, the Editor team has heard from quite a few users who miss box selection (aka column selection, block selection, or rectangular selection).  Yes, it’s missing from the beta, but the good news is that it will be back and better than ever for the final release of VS 2010. Not only will you be able to make, copy/paste, drag/drop, and delete box selections, but you’ll also have the new ability to insert and edit text on multiple lines.  Check…[more ]

The New Project Dialog
With the shell refresh that is coming in Visual Studio 2010, a great deal of the UI has been replaced with new Windows Presentation Foundation parts. The new project dialog (NPD), for example, recieved a complete overhaul as well as some new functionality. Our goal was to make the NPD more efficient to use via the ability to search and order results, as well as more functional through the integration with the Visual Studio Gallery.
