Mike shows us how easy it is to build, package, deploy and debug SharePoint 2010 customizations by walking through a site workflow, event receiver, visual web part, the feature and package designers as well as other goodies. This is a great intro for Visual Studio developers looking to get into SharePoint development, but seasoned SharePoint developers will also appreciate the new tools presented here.
A lot of new language features went into the compilers in Visual Studio 2008 to make LINQ work. In this interview I sit down with Jonathan Aneja, a Program Manager on the Visual Basic Compiler team, who dives deep into these features like Type Inference, Anonymous Types, Lambda Expressions, Expressions Trees, and more. He explains what's actually happening behind the scenes and all the work the compiler is doing for you when you write a LINQ query. My head almost explodes at the end but I learned a lot of important concepts. ;-)

In this interview I sat down for coffee with Nick Landry, Windows Mobile Device Application Development MVP (that's a mouthful of title) and chatted with him about how he's used Visual Basic over the years and why he loves it. Nick likes to talk and has some great stories . It was a fun trip down memory lane.
I mean literally. You know, the build process that spits out a product at the other end? Well I sure did and it's not just hitting F5 people ;-). In this interview I sit down with Matt Gertz, frequent VB blogger and also the guy in charge of the builds in Developer Division (he has a long title, but I forget what it is :-)). He explains how the build and test processes work on a team of two thousand people all on Team Foundation Server. I must say it's pretty darn impressive. Many thanks to Matt for taking time out of his busy schedule to do this interview!
We chat about trust issues and certificates and he sets me straight on how ClickOnce deployment and application manifests work. He then shows how to re-sign them outside of Visual Studio using a tool called Mage. This is really handy for folks that need to modify the files within a deployment package, like the application settings (app.config) file, but don't have Visual Studio installed.
