Microsoft goes to Google? Yeah, Jason Shellen, of Google's Blogger team, invited us over to meet the Google Blogger team where they showed off a new feature that lets you edit your blogs from Microsoft Word: Blogger for Word. We snuck past the security guard and talked our way past the PR department. This video is one of the first that we've done at a Microsoft competitor, but it's pretty significant that you can now use Microsoft Word to create Blogger posts now.

Why didn't you take Ballmer along with you? Wink
to be honest I am suprised this has not been done already. I mean it only seemed logical that word have someway to interact with a blog.

Blogger for Word only does text. No images. No audio/video.

What a usless app then.  All you get out of it is spell checking (and basic formatting I guess).  It doesn't seem like it would have been much work to upload video/audio/images.  They should open source it, that might be cool, at least get around the myriad of short comings.

Am I the only one that finds google's applications to be lame?  They all seem thrown together with little thought (and absolutly no interaction).

Wow, that guy seemed...a little put out.  Like he was above the "Microsoft guy" that had the privilege to come there.

The app seems lame, you can't post audio or video?  What about images, he never touched on those.  I might as well write my own...

That's pretty neat.

I wonder if the source-code is available, I'd like to convert the app to support .Text blogs too. Then I could use it over at my blog on WDevs.

Maybe I'll wait for the new Visual Studio 2005 for Office. It'll probably be a snap to write a similar toolbar using C# with that.

Nice to see a non-Microsoft company on Channel 9.
