Jim and Dan are two seemingly normal Microsoft employees who I've been watching from afar (they work for Microsoft Consulting Services). When hurricane Katrina hit they dropped everything in their lives and got in a plane and flew to Austin, TX. Hear their story about the technology they deployed (they architected, and developed the Katrina Safe Website for the Red Cross within hours of the disaster) and the heck they overcame -- all voluntarily.

That story starts at about 4:30 into the video. Before that you'll hear about the kinds of things they do as part of their jobs at Microsoft Consulting.

Thanks guys for all the help you gave victims in a tough time. You're our heros. More info on KatrinaSafe is on J Sawyer's blog and on Dan's blog. The Jim and Dan Show covers more too.

IMO, technology succeeds when it brings smile to the people's face.
These guys have gone beyond their duty to give a new meaning to what they do daily... I salute them both...!Smiley

Channel 9 :)
These guys are scary smart.
It's awesome to see that normal developers and techies can make a real world "big" impact in helping people.

You can see their passion for helping people, and their mastery of the technologies for real world value.

BTW, thanks Scoble for not editing the video!

I like the joke and banter about who has a better job. That was funny.
I just did a podcast on the KatrinaSafe project with Intervoice and Microsoft Speech Server!
