Windows 7 offers a new way of controlling your desktop, managing your windows, and launching applications. The Windows 7 Taskbar is a new application-launching and window-switching mechanism that consolidates the functionalities from previous Windows OS Desktop mechanisms such as Quick Launch, Recent Documents, Notification area icons, desktop shortcuts, and running application windows.

This is yet another video in the Windows 7 Taskbar series. This video focuses on the advanced functionalities that the Windows 7 Taskbar offers, such as Thumbnail Overview, AeroPeek, overriding the default Thumbnail icon, and surfacing tabs and documents from a Multi Tab or Documents Interface (such as IE8). Join Ben Betz and Robert Jarrett as they dive deep into the Taskbar API to explain exactly how to integrate your applications with the Windows 7 Taskbar Thumbnail and AeroPeek functionality.

Go Microsoft !!!!!!!
Thank YOU!! Great Work
Looks great!
It's just unfortunate that the framerate of the video capture is so low for a graphical demo like this.

Ha ha ha! Aw bugger.
It had been bugging me for a while. I remember one of the first few Win 7 demos where some animated feature was demo'ed and it showed up very choppy in the capture.

But yeah, I just noticed the improvement and came back to remove the post but my mistake had already been called out Tongue Out
I need to pay better attention! I love these kind of videos. Keep up the good work.

Honestly, this stuff is great, but I always come away with the impression that the developers don't realize how many people these days use more than 1 monitor.

Supporting a multi monitor task bar seems to me to be a relatively easy addition that can offer a great amount of functionality to users. (IE low hanging fruit)

I guess we'll have to wait until Apple adds it to OS X before Microsoft will admit that this feature is useful.

(BTW, I know this feature has been added by 3rd party add-ons like UltraMon for years, but due to API limitations, it tends to be very fragile as an add-on)

When will we get to see the sample code?

The Win 7 RC SDK has no taskbar samples for thumbnails.

I really like the new features and can even almost get around the lack of multi monitor support by running it on the left side of my wide screen monitor, but I can't understand the lack of functionality to move the clock and start button.  Why can't I just flip the thing around and put the start button on the bottom and the clock on the top when it is docked to either the left or the right?  While I love the new stuff, it always seems like it is 80% of the way there.
