At South by Southwest in Austin, Tamara Phillips of Desktop Music Channel showed Michael Scherotter a Software+Services solution that includes a compelling desktop applications with service-based push technology.
The Desktop Music Channel is a new way for artists and bands to create an interactive desktop experience for their fans.

seems like a nice idea but i don't think it'll go very far; much of what it offers only requires a little effort. Also, a fan would have to be pretty dedicated to agree to recieving advertising text messages from a band/artist.
