Windows 7 includes unique features that can really light up your application and create new possibilities. Yochay Kiraity has been working with the team to create Managed Code APIs making it even easier for .NET developers to take advantage of these features.  In this video, Yochay demonstrates code using Accelerometers and Light Sensors. 

This is Part 1 in a 3-Part Series covering the Managed Code APIs.  Part 2 demonstrates the Taskbar and Libraries Library and Part 3 demonstrates the Multi-touch Library.

one thing that would be awsome to write sensor drivers in .net Smiley is that at all possible? a series on writing sensor driver  would be great in either case. i'd like to be able to create sensor driver for all kinds of random stuff, wiimotes spring to mind Smiley or like a bathroom scale hooked up to a comport Smiley

good stuff guys.  Will someone be keeping a sensor blog updated with all sensors that support the driver model?   Is it input only model? or is it bi-directional api with command support so you could control a thermostate for example or would that be out of band? TIA

That's a good question about the sensor information.  My best guess right now is the Sensors and Location Code Gallery page which also link to the Sensor and Location Platform Forum.

I'm not sure about the driver or input question, I'll ping Yochay and find the answer.

I hope we actually get some momentum around the hardware.  Sideshow was a cool idea, but the hardware never really seemed to catch on.  As a dev, I think the hardware manufacturers have to lead the way.  No way can we invest in developing anything serious for these types of things until he hardware shows promise.
