At the Software Industry Conference 2007, Michael Lehman (blog, blog/podcast) and Bob Walsh (blog) interviewed Judi Tyabji Wilson, CEO of Tugboat Enterprises, about their innovative MicroISV product Selkie Rescue.

When your machine won't boot because the OS is discombobulated or you've come down with a nasty virus, you can boot from the Selkie Rescue CD.  Selkie Rescue turns your machine into a file server from which you can then retrieve your precious data.

Definitely worth a look!

UPDATE: Fixed the download link.

One. How many time travellers does it take to change a lightbulb?
Well thanks for not explaing how it works.. Is it basic live unix with ntfs-3g and Samba or can it actually recover damaged (ntfs) drive? Maybe formatted drive?
Else I can insert my own live distro cd at boot time or just take out hard drive and insert it into healthy pc.

Perplexed
Hum... the download and full-screen links are the same (mms:, grrr)

Is this going to work of your data is behind a TPM? Tongue Out

I think BartPE (free) can be relatively easily put into USB thumb drive or cd and it can also act as file server .. or atleast send files to network etc.

Though last I checked some time ago it took some effort.

It was interesting to hear about this product. It is always ecouraging to hear about MicroISV's succeeding.

However, from a MicroISV perspective I would have been interested to hear about difficulties that this MicroISV overcame or tips for other MicroISV's.
To me the Full Screen and Download links are still the same, both are mms://. Could you fix this again? Thanks.
For those of you who miss The MicroISV Show, I've started a new podcast at http://startuppodcast.wordpress.com/

It's on iTunes at: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=293268482

And it's in the approval queue  at Zune Marketplace.

Hope you like it!
