To enable mobile access, the Web application should have views targeting each of the mobile devices to be supported.

We use the MVC pattern to create several views targeting different kind of browsers reusing the same business logic. For this implementation, we use the ASP.NET MVC framework which provides an alternative to the ASP.NET Web Forms pattern for creating MVC-based Web applications. The ASP.NET MVC framework is a lightweight, highly testable presentation framework that is integrated with existing ASP.NET features, such as master pages and membership-based authentication.

For extending the Web application to use mobile specific views, this sample provides a reusable component called MobileCapableViewEngine that enables the Web application to show the appropriate view depending on the device's browser that is performing the request.

ASP.NET MVC enables you to build Model View Controller (MVC) applications by using the ASP.NET framework. ASP.NET MVC is an alternative, not a replacement, for ASP.NET Web Forms that offers the following benefits:

Clear separation of concerns

Testability - support for Test-Driven Development

Fine-grained control over HTML and JavaScript

Intuitive URLs

What you will learn:

This demonstration focused session covers the fundamentals of the ASP.NET MVC framework. You will learn how ASP.NET MVC differs from the current ASP.NET Web Forms framework. Through a series of demonstrations, you will see:

How ASP.NET MVC provides you with fine-grained control over HTML and JavaScript

Test Driven Development fundamentals

AJAX with ASP.NET MVC fundamentals

Well as good ideas go sometimes this one passed by the wayside due to lack of time available. Fortunately this is not true, when the Channel9 team had the same idea. They've build a new blog engine called Oxite based on ASP.NET MVC and their experience building sites like Ch9, Ch10, Ch8, Edge and especially MIX Online.

Check it out! Its a very nice feature set for an initial release and its a full working sample for learning ASP.NET MVC.

Congrats, MIX Online and Ch9 dev team!

<itunes:summary>When ASP.NET MVC hit like Preview 3 or 4, quite a few of us were saying "We should get together and build new blog software based on MVC, it would be so fun!".
