I en serie kortare webcasts så vill jag nu försöka belysa hur enkelt det är att bygga applikationer med Microsofts verktyg och publicera resultatet på svenska “hosters”. I mina exempel använder jag mig av Binero.

I den här filmen visar jag hur jag kan publicera en ASP.NET MVC lösning med Visual Studio 2008 och också hur jag modifierar serversidan för att hantera routing som krävs för ASP.NET MVC.

Web Application Toolkit: Mobile Web Applications

This Web Application Toolkit is designed to demonstrate how to extend an existing ASP.NET MVC Web application to provide access from mobile devices. To enable mobile access, the Web application should have views targeting each of the mobile devices to be supported.

We use the MVC pattern to create several views targeting different kind of browsers reusing the same business logic. For this implementation, we use the ASP.NET MVC framework which provides an alternative to the ASP.NET Web Forms pattern for creating MVC-based Web applications. The ASP.NET MVC framework is a lightweight, highly testable presentation framework that is integrated with existing ASP.NET features, such as master pages and membership-based authentication.

For extending the Web application to use mobile specific views, this sample provides a reusable component called MobileCapableViewEngine that enables the Web application to show the appropriate view depending on the device's browser that is performing the request.

Scott Hanselman - NerdDinner.com

Scott Hanselman did an interesting session at MIX09 called "File|New -> Company", where he essentially started with a blank screen, and using Visual Studio, ASP.NET, Ajax, and Model View Controller he created an entire website called "NerdDinner.com", which is a social networking sites for... well... nerds, to allow them to coordinate with their friends what restaurants to go to and what to eat.

While we didn't have time in this episode to let Scott repeat this feat, we did get a chance to talk with him about how the various technologies he utilized worked with the tools in order to make it possible.

He also says a little about the Data Annotation-based Model Binder that they showed at Mix 09. A glimpse at what is to come in the unholy marriage of ASP.NET MVC and ASP.NET Dynamic Data. I shudder to think of the possibilities. A small shudder, to be clear, but it's there. Almost palpable.

Phil Haack stopped by the studio last week to explain what makes this version 1 of the MVC Framework for ASP.NET and spends a little time explaining the MVC pattern. Phil then demos the scaffolding functionality which allows you to quickly build a functional website based on your existing data services.

ASP.NET MVC using Visual Basic XML Literals

In this interview Dmitry Robsman, the Product Unit Manager for ASP.NET, shows us how he implemented ASP.NET MVC views using Visual Basic's XML Literals instead of .aspx pages. He shows us how this makes coding the views much cleaner using standard OOP principals. He also makes some very interesting observations about DSLs and Visual Basic XML literals. Oxite, an ASP.NET MVC based blog

When ASP.NET MVC hit like Preview 3 or 4, quite a few of us were saying "We should get together and build new blog software based on MVC, it would be so fun!".

Well as good ideas go sometimes this one passed by the wayside due to lack of time available. Fortunately this is not true, when the Channel9 team had the same idea. They've build a new blog engine called Oxite based on ASP.NET MVC and their experience building sites like Ch9, Ch10, Ch8, Edge and especially MIX Online.

Check it out! Its a very nice feature set for an initial release and its a full working sample for learning ASP.NET MVC.
