This includes the billing system integration across all Azure services, the business owner portal, and the developer portal for all Azure services.

Here, we get to know a bit more about the thinking behind the commercialization of Windows Azure (which you will learn more about in great detail at PDC 09). We also learn more about George and his 21 years at the company. He's been a part of some very interesting and innovative technologies over the years not the least of which is the CCR (he led the team that created it).

Cloud applications are web-based distributed systems deployed over a fluctuating set of computing nodes and services. The design of cloud applications is particularly challenging because few assumptions can be made about the connectivity of nodes, the availability of services, and the long-term evolution of the computing fabric. Ethan describes a new approach to architecting cloud applications. His approach gives developers a powerful set of abstractions that they can use to engineer systems beyond a client-server architecture, while understanding the behavior of their applications in a cloud environment. This is part 1, where we introduce the basic concepts on the whiteboard.

In this video, Ryan sits down with Marc Hoeppner, the Managing Director of NeoGeo and a Regional Director out of Germany. NeoGeo builds a media asset management system to coordinate things like versioning, searching, and storage of digital media assets called neoMediaCenter.NET.

Recently, Marc and his team integrated SQL Data Services into the product alongside the existing SQL Server backend. Marc demonstrates the seamless integration of cloud services and on-premises services provided by his product as well as talks about why he chose SQL Data Services to provide scale-free storage and query capabilities.

Marc's demo is pretty amazing - especially the CIFS implementation on top of SDS - allowing them to mount SQL Data Services as a drive in the sky.
